RÉQUIEM PARA UMA INICIATIVA DE REGIONALISMO SUL-AMERICANO: IDEOLOGIA VS. PRAGMATISMO NO OCASO DA UNASUL

The article presents an analysis of the recent dismantling Union South-American Nations (UNASUR) under governments liberal-conservative turn recently experienced in South America. Through mobilization excerpts from speeches by Heads State region, it is possible to note that allegedly “ideological” character UNASUR presented as main justification for leaving institution. Having mind, objective interrogate narratives about ‘ideological’ UNASUL. For that, a literature review on regionalism, pragmatism and ideology challenge this narrative. It argued, first, regionalism are not dichotomous, but complementary concepts. Moreover, despite UNASUR’s ideological elements, organization represents series alignments pragmatic factors its institutionalization performance. Finally, argued proposals “de-ideologization” “pragmatic realignment” new rights America are, fact, more than they claim.
